Job Summary

In this role you will be responsible for full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple entities who utilize Firebird’s Shared Services department. This is a unique opportunity to be a foundational and integral part of our growing Shared Services team in the United Kingdom. This role will liaise with and support teams at all of our UK portfolio companies regularly from a financial operations perspective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, record and reconcile all payments
  • Onboard new suppliers and customers, sort any issues with setup
  • Monitor cash and credit card balances between entities, advise if transfers are needed
  • Book all expense reports, credit cards, etc, in accordance with company policies, sort any
    issues with employees
  • Account reconciliation (banks, credit cards, etc)
  • Assist with month-end responsibilities, stay on top of open items that would delay close
  • Ensure intercompany balances are correct, adjust as needed
  • Maintain / index a searchable repository of KYC documentation
  • Maintain / update approval routing matrices in all systems for each company
  • Maintain / update integrity of core data in all systems, review and reconcile monthly
  • Aim to achieve efficiencies, question / challenge any processes or workflows which seem excessive, outdated, manual or cumbersome
  • Monthly and quarterly journal entries, accrual preparation and posting

Qualifications

  • 2 years bookkeeping experience (minimum), preferably in the music industry
  • Previous experience with accounting, banking and expense software
  • Proficient knowledge of GAAP and VAT

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely consolidated financial statements in accordance
    with GAAP; extensive multi-entity general ledger and financial statement preparation skills
    including consolidations, with willingness to do in depth work with source documents and ledgers
  • Develop and present comprehensive financial reports to executive leadership, identifying key
    trends and areas for improvement
  • Ensure timely and accurate close – review and approve all balance sheet accounts, including
    monthly bank reconciliation and general ledger account reconciliations.

Team Leadership

  • Participate in and build a high performing accounting team, fostering a collaborative and results – oriented culture
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members

Audit and Taxation

  • Coordinate and manage external financial audit, ensuring a smooth and efficient audit process and timeline delivery
  • Support tax return preparation process

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, accounting principles and industry standards
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to mitigate financial risks and safeguard company assets

Financial Operations

  • Management of or interaction with day to day financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll activitie
  • Support technical administration of various financial systems
  • Continuously assess and optimize financial processes for efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA certification preferred
  • Proven experience (8+ years including public accounting experience) in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, with a background in technology or start-up environments
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting – experience with multi-subsidiary LLCs and equity investment accounting a plus
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and develop a high performing team
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills
  • Highly organized, inquisitive, resourceful, self-motivated and independent
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to contribute to overall business strategy
